I would have to say I am the proudest of my college review paper. I am the proudest of this paper because I felt I wrote this one the best. I struggled with the product review. It was hard for me to find something to review. My favorite essay was the proposal essay. I was able to choose a topic that I found interesting. The essay I liked the least was the persuasive essay. It was hard to find something that I wanted to write about. I learned I can write a paper in a short amount of time, I am a better writer than I thought, and writing papers comes easily to me.

The schools I have in mind are Iowa, BVU, UNI, and Creighton. They are of interest to me because they a good schools for the two things I am trying to decide between majoring in. I plan to major in health sciences or business. My expectations of college are that there is going to be a lot of time spent in class and studying outside of class. I hope the stereotype that teachers make college out to be is false. They all make it sound like college is going to be super hard and the teachers won’t care about you. The major factor for choosing a school is probably how I feel while I’m visiting there. If a school gives me a bad vibe or doesn’t feel right I probably won’t go there. I’m looking forward to getting a good education so I can make lots of money. I fear failing or not doing well in class.

I buy the things I buy because of what interests me. I buy the things I buy because I need the majority of the things. I need the clothes and personal hygiene supplies. I also buy things based off looks. I buy things that I think look good and I will continue to use. I also go to certain places because I heard they were interesting. I go to certain events because I feel I would enjoy them. I narrowed down the search for colleges based off what I want to major in.

Slippery slope implies that a minor action will have major or crazy results. An example of a slippery slope would be like saying if we don’t have rules in school, everyone is going to end up in prison. While having rules provides structure, people will be just fine without certain rules. Having this in your essay will weaken your argument because people will know that you’re jumping to conclusions and making things seem worse than they really are. This will make people not want to believe you.

I learned there was a model based on persuasive writing. You need a claim, evidence, warrant, backing, rebuttal, and qualifier. They are all needed because they rely on each other to strengthen the argument. You should avoid using words that leave question and doubt. You should avoid using those words because it will leave the audience with doubt for your argument. The main goal of persuasive writing is to convince other people that your side to an argument is the right side.

A controversial topic I am passionate about is healthcare. I am passionate about this topic because I go to the doctor multiple times a year and I enjoy the medical field. For healthcare a trip to the emergency room in the United States costs anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars and that’s after insurance has helped out. If you go to a different country the healthcare is much cheaper and a trip to the emergency room would only cost in the tens of dollars. This is because healthcare is cheaper in those countries. believe healthcare is too expensive and everyone should have it. This means either free healthcare or cheaper healthcare. For free healthcare it would have to be paid for still but it would come right out of taxes. Cheaper healthcare would just mean that clinics and hospitals wouldn’t be able to charge people for care as much as they do.

I was surprised by many things. I was surprised to learn how much marine life dies from plastic. Over 100,000 mammals and 1,000,000 seabirds die from plastic every year. I was also surprised there were many different way plastic production affects the environment. I discovered there are many places that have had a plastic bag ban or plastic bag fee for many years. I would have looked into how much plastic is recycled compared to how much plastic is thrown away every year. It was easy for my to come up with a problem because it makes me mad when people litter and don’t recycle. Plastic is the main thing I see people throw out so that’s why I chose plastic pollution. It was hard to come up with a solution because there were so many to choose from. It was tough to pick just one. There were many other great solutions but the one I chose seemed to be the easiest one to enforce and a good way to start reducing plastic production and use.

Some takeaways from the video are to be bold, be courageous, be yourself, and live without fear. The video was about taking chances and not giving up. It was about doing the things you always wanted to do because you only have one life to live. The problem being addressed is that people are scared to take chances and will give up after failing one time. The solution is to take the chance and if you fail you get back up and try again.

I learned that it was easy to write about something I already knew a lot about. It allowed me to focus more on the paper itself rather than finding the information. I learned that I can write faster and more efficiently when the topic is something I am knowledgeable about. I learned a lot of people are involved in subcultures that I didn’t know about. The most important part of the autoethnography was to write about yourself and allow to you explore your mind. I liked the autoethnography because it gave me complete control of what I was able to write.

The subculture that I got into was basketball. I got into this subculture by chance and by choice. A memory that stands out for me and is also a first is when I first started playing basketball. I would go and practice with my brother’s team when I was in kindergarten. I wasn’t old enough to have my own team yet. I was allowed to practice with them because my dad was the coach. I would go and practice with them doing all the drills they did. I essentially was a part of the team except I didn’t play in games with them. Something fun about being an insider is that you know what’s happening in the game, whether it’s at the level you are playing at or not. I wouldn’t say there are any drawbacks to being an insider. Something I would like to teach others about this subculture is that you don’t have to play competitively to be a part of it. You could just enjoy playing in your free time or with your friends.
