I was surprised by many things. I was surprised to learn how much marine life dies from plastic. Over 100,000 mammals and 1,000,000 seabirds die from plastic every year. I was also surprised there were many different way plastic production affects the environment. I discovered there are many places that have had a plastic bag ban or plastic bag fee for many years. I would have looked into how much plastic is recycled compared to how much plastic is thrown away every year. It was easy for my to come up with a problem because it makes me mad when people litter and don’t recycle. Plastic is the main thing I see people throw out so that’s why I chose plastic pollution. It was hard to come up with a solution because there were so many to choose from. It was tough to pick just one. There were many other great solutions but the one I chose seemed to be the easiest one to enforce and a good way to start reducing plastic production and use.

I was surprised that littering was something that came to your mind to write about. That isn’t something I would have thought to write about. I am also surprised at how many animals die each year from plastic pollution and how many solutions there are to stop it. I didn’t know that many places have a plastic bag ban or fee.
